WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – New leadership is coming to Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools.
Current superintendent Craig Broeren is stepping down at the end of June and current Lincoln High School principal Ronald Rasmussen will be taking over as superintendent.
Broeren announced earlier this year that he would be leaving the school district after seven years and heading west to the St. Croix School District. “Anytime there is a transition of leadership, I think that provides opportunities, most of that is positive,” Broeren said. “It provides a new set of eyes and the ability to focus on some different topics that need to be addressed.”
Rasmussen has been with the district for 12 years, working as principal all 12 years. The Antigo native says he is excited about his new position and the challenges that come with it. “I am really excited to serve the students of the Wisconsin Rapids School District and the greater Wisconsin Rapids community in a new role,” Rasmussen said. “Excited to be more involved in elementary buildings and community organizations and just make positive efforts for the youth in this community.”
As for next year– he’s looking forward to working with more of the students and focusing on their lives in school and after graduation.
Rasmussen said, “continuing our growth making sure our students can follow their passions and achieve what they want after high school, be it going to the workforce, military, 2-year (or) 4-year institution and just really growing our community partnership.”
Rasmussen will officially begin serving as superintendent on July 1.
