GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers selected former USC running back MarShawn Lloyd 88th overall and Missouri linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper 91st overall during the 2024 NFL Draft on Friday night.
Lloyd transferred to USC from South Carolina and played 11 games as a junior. He rushed for 816 yards on 115 tries for an impressive 7.1 yards per carry, nine touchdowns, and as a receiver, he had 13 receptions for 232 yards. According to scouts at NFL Draft Buzz, Llyod ran a 4.4 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, has “exceptional acceleration and burst, enabling rapid transitions through different levels of defense,” and ‘poses a constant threat with his long-speed capability, turning any play into a potential touchdown.”

Meanwhile, the Packers added another linebacker to their core selecting 2023 Second Team All-SEC Missouri linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper 91st overall after taking Texas A&M star Edgerrin Cooper 45th overall. Hopper had very strong 2023 season with the Tigers recording 54 tackles, 15 assists, and 37 stops, as well as two pass breakups and an interception in coverage. Scouts at NFL Draft Buzz note that Hopper can “cover ground quickly, effectively managing running backs and tight ends in vertical routes thanks to his notable speed and agility” and “exhibits a powerful rip move to bypass blockers, enhancing his efficiency against the run and pass rush.”
